City of Bhatkal

Bhatkal is a port town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India 126 km from Karwar. The town is on NH-17 running between Mumbai and Mangalore. It is one of the major stations along the Konkan Railway line running between Mumbai and Mangalore. The nearest airport is Mangalore International Airport
This Town is located in the midst of Western Ghats which has an coastal line covered by the Arabian Sea.
It has a thunderous sea to the west, mountains to the east and the temple on the hillock attracts many devotees and tourists towards itself. Apart from the temple cape at murudeshwar the sea is the second most attractive place. This is on the small hill called as the kanduka giri and is surrounded by the sea.  During the time of Vijayanagar empire in the 16th century Bhatkal beach was considered as the most important port.

The nearest airport is the Mangalore airport 160 kilometers, and Bangalore 520 kilometers in Karnataka state. But the Goa airport is 220 kilometers and tourists can travel by air for reaching the murudeshwar beach

Bhatkal is the main railway station as it is the main konkan railway line connecting all the Mumbai and Mangalore trains.
