KASUTI is an ancient craft,belonging to dharwad district of North karnataka. It is an intricate form of hand embroidary with beautiful motifs of birds, animals, temples, chariots and different kinds of flowers. The motifs look the same on either side and there lies the uniqueness of the craft. The artisans, mostly belonging to the economically backward class, use only thread and needle. Kasuti in the local language, Kannada, literally means 'KAI'-Hand and 'SUTI-weave/embroidary' .
